Alexandra McLoughlin, studying at the Crawley Campus, Central Sussex College
What course are you studying and why?
BTEC National Diploma in Media Production because it appeals to me. I love the idea of having a range of skills that are exciting and helpful to know.
What does it involve?
So far I have learnt how to use iMovie and Photoshop and I love it! Using the big professional video cameras and also the still cameras is such a pleasure and makes me smile! We also study Journalism which I love and Radio. The only downside to my course is that film studies is included and I am finding that quite hard. I don’t really take an interest in looking in-depth at movies and the theory.
Do you work?
I have interviewed some awesome bands and published the interviews in some magazines. I have also interviewed a top Bermudian Chef and will be publishing it soon in the magazine at my college. I have also created four websites for some musicians whose music I love. I have also done some photography at shows which I have put up on my special myspace photography site
.
What motivates you?
I love music and interviewing and photographing my favourite bands. I also enjoy writing for Empty Playground and Scoop in my spare time.
Why the Student Network?
I enjoy working with computers and the internet; I also think it would be of a great benefit for my future career in Journalism.
What does the future hold?
My goal is to qualify as a Journalist in the Entertainment Industry. I would like to contribute to successful magazines such as Kerrang and OK. I am hoping to work for Kerrang, Metal Hammer and NME magazines as well as work for some celebrity gossip and fashion magazines. I would like to do interviews for these magazines and photography.
